Actor Jim Carrey urged the U.N. Security Council on Friday to ban all international arms shipments to Myanmar to pressure the country to end its brutal suppression of pro-democracy protesters.
Carrey thus becomes the first cast member of Dumb and Dumber to call for such a ban.
"If Lemony Snicket has taught me anything," said Carrey, "it's that democracy and mediocre family flicks go together like Bionic Woman and the new NBC fall schedule."
Authorities in Myanmar replied "we haven't laughed this hard since Fun with Dick and Jane."
